The Cape May-Lewes Ferry, capable of carrying up to 100 vehicles and 1,000 passengers, is the most memorable way to travel between Delaware and New Jersey. Take the Cape May – Lewes Ferry on a 17-mile, 80-minute voyage across the Delaware Bay and cut miles off your trip along the Atlantic Coast. Whether you are vacationing in Rehoboth Beach, Fenwick Island, Lewes, Dewey Beach, Ocean City, MD, Ocean City, NJ, Wildwood, Stone Harbor, Avalon, or anywhere else along the Jersey Shore, the ferry is just a short drive away.

Special Events


  • Rock the Boat: Entertainment from reggae music to Jimmy Buffet to good ol’ rock ’n’ roll, the ferry is the place to be on Friday nights in July and August.
    • departure from Cape May is every Friday at 6 p.m. and from Lewes at 6:15 p.m. (July 6 through August 24)
    • adults are $17, children ages 6 to 13 are $8.50, and children under 6 years of age are free

  • Lighthouse Pete's Family Fun Cruise: Bring the family on a fun-filled adventure with the ferry’s adorable mascot, Lighthouse Pete the Pirate. Pete will be joined by other family entertainment including music. Reservations are suggested: (800) 643-3779.
    • departure from Cape May is Wednesdays at 6 p.m., from Lewes on Thursdays at 6:15 p.m. (July 11 to August 30)
    • adults are $17, children ages 6 to 13 are $8.50, and children under the age of 6 are free

  • Sunset (and Wine) Lovers Cruise: Enjoy a summer sunset on a cruise across the Delaware Bay as you savor some of the finest Californian, Australian, Portuguese, and French wines along with appetizers. Learn the history of the regions where the featured wines were made as you enjoy them. These cruises depart on four different Saturday evenings: September 9, September 16, September 23, and September 30. Reservations are recommended.
    • Cape May Cruises: Mary V. DiLuzio of Tri-Vin Imports will be presenting world renowned wines from Europe and California, which are featured at Joe Canal’s Discount Liquor Outlet in Rio Grande, NJ. For New Jersey passengers, the three-hour cruise departs Cape May at 6:00 p.m.
    • Lewes Cruises: The program will be presented by Teller Wines of Lewes, voted “Best Wine Store Downstate” by Delaware Today magazine. For Delaware passengers, these cruises will depart from Lewes at 5:15 p.m.

  • Marine Naturalist Program: Join the Stone Harbor Wetlands Institute naturalist aboard the ferry and experience informal talks about live animals brought aboard such as terrapins, horseshoe crabs, sea stars, and more.
    • departs Mondays and Thursdays from Cape May at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., and Lewes at 11:15 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. (July 9 through August 23)
    • adults are $17, children ages 6 to13 are $8.50, and children under 6 are free

  • Historic Lewes Tour: Includes round-trip ferry ride from Cape May, shuttle service into Lewes and admission into the Lewes Historical Society Complex, Cannonball House Maritime Museum and HMB DeBraak exhibit at Zwaadendael museum.
    • tours are offered Monday through Saturday (June 18 through September 15), and 7 days as week from July 15 through August 19; departures from Cape May are at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
    • adults are $23, children ages 6 to 13 are $17, and children under the age of 6 are free. (Every Tuesday through Thursday, visitors may add the Lewes Guided Trolley Tour for an additional $3 per person, children under the age of 6 are free.)

  • Lewes Guided Trolley Tour: Includes round-trip ferry ride from Cape May, shuttle service into Lewes, and a 30-minute guided tour of Historic Lewes.
    • tours are offered Tuesday through Thursday; departures from Cape May are at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (June 19 through September 20)
    • adults are $23, children ages 6 to 13 are $17, and children under the age of 6 are free (The Historic Lewes Tour package can be added for an additional $3 per person, children under the age of 6 are free.)

  • Guided Cape May Tour: Includes round-trip ferry ride from Lewes and shuttle service into Cape May. From there, the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC) will take you on a guided, 30-minute trolley tour of the town’s Historic District.
    • tours are offered on the weekends, May 1 through June 10 and October 1 through October 31; they are offered daily June 15 through September 30
    • adults are $23, children ages 6 to 13 are $17, and children under the age of 6 are free

  • Cape May County Zoo Trip: Take the Cape May County Zoo trip and one may be fortunate enough to meet Jerome Giraffe, Brutus & Tinker-bell Cougar, or Matilda & Dundee Wallaby. The zoo is also home to monkeys, tigers, bobcats, zebras, black bears, leopards, prairie dogs, raccoons, foxes, black bucks, deer, exotic birds and reptiles. Reservations are recommended.
    • excursion departs Lewes at 9:15 a.m. and returns from Cape May on the 3:30 p.m. ferry every Tuesday from June 20 to August 29
    • adults are $22 for a round-trip ferry ride and shuttle service to and from the zoo; children ages 6 to 13 are $15 and those under 6 years of age are free

  • Atlantic City Tours: Each trip includes round-trip ferry ride (departing from Lewes, DE), round trip motorcoach transportation to and from Atlantic City, a bonus package, shows, buffet, coins, etc. Must be 21 years of age or older.   • Travel Thru Time: Includes round-trip ferry ride from Lewes, shuttle service and admission to both the Wildwood Aviation Museum (a WWII training facility for dive-bomber squadrons) and Historic Cold Spring Village, an Early American open air living history museum, as well as shopping at the Washington Street Mall in the historic city of Cape May. Reservations are required.
