Gathering information for his next book, novelist and socialite Charles Condomine hires the eccentric psychic Madame Arcati to conduct a séance. After inadvertently summoning the ghost of his dead wife, Charles must defend his new (and living) wife from this vengeful and hot-tempered spirit.
