"The Cape Henlopen School District prepares each student for a healthy, creative, and rewarding life in a diverse and global society by creating an educational environment which enables each student to achieve personal excellence and lifelong learning skills to become a productive and responsible citizen. The staff at Mariner Middle School supports this mission by serving the unique academic, physical, social, and emotional needs of students who are in a special and critical period of their lives as they change from childhood to adolescence. The staff of Mariner Middle School is also committed to creating and maintaining an orderly, trusting, and caring environment where teaching and learning are exciting and expectations for student achievement are high.

At Mariner Middle School, its staff is committed to providing its students with the best educational experience possible. Students at Mariner are taught by qualified and experienced teachers in the core subject areas of English, math, science, and social studies. All of its teachers are life long learners and a majority of our staff have earned advanced degrees. Students are scheduled for a variety of exploratory classes that include technology, computers, band, music, chorus, art, career planning, health, physical education, research design, and math strategies.

The goals of Mariner Middle School include helping all students meet the state's Grade Level Expectations (GLE's) for ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Where deficits exist, it is the school's goal to make adjustments that will enable all students to meet the state's content and performance standards as measured by the DSTP. The staff also recognizes that student learning requires effective teaching and leadership. Effective teaching and leadership requires the belief that all children can learn the setting high expectations, the creation of student center lessons, and the participation in professional development that is data driven and centered on student achievement. Student achievement also requires an academic, physical, social, and emotional climate that is fostered and maintained by all stakeholders. It is the school's goal to passionately establish and maintain a climate that supports student achievement and success."
