These distinctive parks make it easy to build an outdoor day into a Delaware or Maryland beach trip. Some offer guarded ocean swimming and full campgrounds; others are better for boating, wildlife, history or a quiet walk beside the inland bays.

Pair an Atlantic or Delaware Bay beach day with paved bike routes, dune trails, fishing, camping, Fort Miles and a nature center.

Lifeguard dates and hours are seasonal. Swimming outside a guarded area or season is at your own risk; always check posted conditions.
Delaware uses daily vehicle entrance fees during its fee season, with higher rates for out-of-state vehicles. Cape Henlopen, Delaware Seashore and Fenwick Island use the ocean-park rate; Holts Landing uses the lower inland-park rate.
Walking and bicycling admission is free. An annual pass can be the better value for repeat visits, but camping, surf-fishing permits and some programs cost extra.
Maryland charges a per-person summer day-use fee and a per-vehicle off-season fee at Assateague. Camping reservations and transaction charges are separate.
Assateague State Park, Assateague Island National Seashore and the Virginia refuge are managed separately. Fees, reservations, pet areas and vehicle permits do not transfer automatically.
Cape Henlopen, Delaware Seashore, Fenwick Island and Assateague operate guarded swimming areas during published summer dates and hours. Holts Landing has no swimming beach.
Cape Henlopen, Delaware Seashore and Assateague have family campgrounds. Reserve well ahead for summer weekends. Holts Landing offers only limited organized group camping, not a family campground.
Every park has location- and season-specific pet boundaries. Leashes and waste cleanup are required, and guarded beaches commonly restrict pets. Use the individual guide before choosing a beach or campsite.
Holts Landing is the strongest public powerboat-launch choice. Delaware Seashore and Assateague have marina or ramp access, while several parks also provide hand-launch paddling routes.
